Appetizer Bacon Wraps

This is a simple, easy to make, and very delicious. I usually make my bacon wraps around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Although I do make them every now and again just because they are good. Unfortunately I haven't made any in awhile so I don't have any pictures to add, sorry about that. So supplies you will need:
The ingredients that you will need are:
  • good thick cut smoked bacon
  • water chestnuts
  • honey
  • cherry juice
  • liquid smoke
  • ketchup
  • light brown sugar (optional)
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F depending on stove temperature may need slight adjustment. Cut bacon strips in half and depending on the size of the water chestnut it needs to be cut to fit the bacon, if the water chestnut is too big it will fall apart. If they bacon slices are too big the bacon won't cook all the way. At this point I would highly recommend that you cut one slice of bacon in half and then size up one of the water chestnuts so that you get a feel for the size they need to be and how it will go together. After you have done that, if you chose to do that step cut all of the bacon and water chestnuts to size and begin to assemble them by wrapping the bacon around the water chestnut and inserting the toothpick into it so that it will stand straight up on the baking sheet. Put the baking sheet in the oven and check on every ten minutes or so. While the wraps are baking get your bowl and the rest of your ingredients and mix together roughly 2 cups ketchup , 1/2 cup of honey and brown sugar or 1 cup or either, 2 tsp liquid smoke, and about a quarter cup of cherry juice. Whisk together all the ingredients until it is smooth, glossy and  about the consistency of honey a little thicker is also okay too. From this point taste the sauce and adjust to taste as well as adding any other desired ingredients. I recommend trying it this way before adding other ingredients. After the wraps have fully cooked, remove from oven and use tongs to remove each wrap and dip in sauce until thoroughly coated in sauce. Return wraps to pan directly after dipping each one and bake 5 minutes longer. At this point you can either let cool and enjoy or dip a second time and then let cool and enjoy depending on how much sauce you like, if you like your food light on the sauce then simply let cool and enjoy. If you remove wraps by the inserted toothpick they will keep the quality appearance if you use the tongs to remove them the sauce is likely to smear and the wraps will lose the quality appearance. Well I hope you all enjoy this delicious little appetizer I know I do. If you have any question or problems with this recipe please leave me a comment and I will respond promptly I do check my blog daily. Thank you and enjoy.
